The gardens rest…

The gardens have been taking a well-deserved rest since the fall.  I’ve been at both of the schools recently and have taken a few pictures of the gardens that I thought I’d share with you today.

The Blake garden, under a wee bit of snow, on February 15th. Withrow's Spiderweb Garden on February 16th.

As those of you living in Southern Ontario know, we’ve had a very warm winter, which has made for some interesting action in the gardens, at a time when they should all be sleeping under a blanket of snow.  One of the garlic plants at Blake has sprouted, and on February 16th I harvested some kale and some cilantro from the Withrow garden.  Ridiculous!

A lone garlic starts to sprout through the snow. Blake Garden on Feb 15th.

Cilantro springs up anywhere, apparently even in mid-February in the Withrow Garden.

Anyway, happy growing (and seed swapping/buying/ordering, and seed starting…)!
